BHF-funded Post-doctoral Position: The successful candidate will undertake research investigations under the supervision of Dr. Manikandan Subramanian at the Centre for Biochemical Pharmacology, William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London.

Research Area: Macrophage Mediated Clearance of Dead Cells and Extracellular DNA in the context of Inflammation Resolution and Atherosclerosis Progression

Location: London, UK

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree or equivalent in biological or related science
  • Strong background in immune cell biology and animal models of inflammatory and/or atherosclerotic heart diseases
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and multi-tasking ability
  • Proficiency with computer software related to laboratory research, data presentation, and statistical evaluation
  • Ability to communicate well and work within a team
  • Desirable: Specific expertise in flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy analysis

Job Description:

The successful candidate will undertake research investigations under the supervision of Dr. Manikandan Subramanian at the Centre for Biochemical Pharmacology, William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London. The research focuses on examining the interaction between atherosclerotic plaque macrophages and neutrophil extracellular traps and how it impacts cellular function and disease progression. The responsibilities also include providing research and administrative support to the research programme and maintain accurate records.

Salary: £36,348 per annum including London allowance (Grade 4)

Hours: Full Time

Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract (12 months with a possibility of a further 24 months extension)
