About- The ANU College of Science comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment & Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics & Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and deliver a research-led education program that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities. The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered Nobel Laureate and Kyoto Prize winners and trained scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world.
The Research School of Chemistry (RSC) was founded in 1967. Last year, the School’s 50th anniversary provided the opportunity to celebrate the RSC’s research and teaching excellence. The School divides its research into the following themes: Biological chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Materials chemistry, Organic chemistry, Physical chemistry and Computational & Theoretical chemistry. The RSC has 47 academic and 34 professional staff and more than 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students. From late 2013, the School has been accommodated in new, state-of-the-art laboratories with excellent facilities and resources for chemical research.

Job/Position Description- The Postdoctoral Fellow will be a member of Battery Storage and Integration Program, a new research initiative between the Research School of Chemistry and the College of Engineering and Computer Science at ANU. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to contribute to the installation and set-up activities of a new battery storage laboratory in the Research School of Chemistry and conduct internationally relevant research, both independently and in collaboration, in electrode materials for metal-ion batteries with new chemistries (with an emphasis on potassium-based batteries). Experience with varied battery chemistries, in battery industry and start up companies, and with pouch or cylindrical cells will be highly regarded.
