About- Established in 2015, the Indian Institute of Technology Palakkad is dedicated to creating an environment that enables students and faculty to engage in the pursuit of knowledge, to dream, think and innovate thereby becoming a change agent for a better world. Beginning with a humble student strength of 120 way back in July 2015, IIT Palakkad has now groomed itself into an establishment which is 1000 students strong with the best of manpower in its key positions. IIT Palakkad targets to become a multi-disciplinary institution with a population of 5000 students in 10 years. Eligibility/Qualification–
- Educational Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Metallurgy / Materials / relevant area of research.
- B.E./ B.Tech. in one of the following streams: Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Materials & Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science, Materials Science & Engineering, Materials Science & Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- Must have a First Class or equivalent at the preceding (penultimate) degree in the appropriate branch with a consistently good academic record throughout.
- Experience Requirements:
- Associate Professor: At least 6 years industrial/research/teaching experience (post-Ph.D.), of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor Gr. I (Level 12) or equivalent. Must have a proven track record of student guidance, publications, and sponsored projects.
- Assistant Professor Gr. I: At least 3 years of industrial/research/teaching experience (post-Ph.D.).
- Assistant Professor Gr. II: Candidates with less than 3 years of industrial/research/teaching experience (post-Ph.D.).
- Age Limit (as on 09 April 2026):
- Associate Professor: Preferably less than 45 years.
- Assistant Professor: Preferably less than 35 years, but not exceeding 40 years.
- Age relaxations applicable for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Women candidates as per GoI norms.
