Eligibility/Qualification-

Assistant Professor Grade I

Candidates should have:

• A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.
• First class or equivalent in the preceding degree.
• Specialization in the appropriate area/branch.
• Excellent academic record throughout.
• Proven track record of outstanding research ability.
• Candidates with at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. industrial/research/teaching experience may be considered.

Associate Professor

Candidates should have:

• A Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.
• First class or equivalent in the preceding degree.
• Excellent academic record throughout.
• Proven track record of excellent research ability and leadership skills.
• Minimum 6 years of teaching/research experience, including at least 3 years at the level of Assistant Professor Grade-I / Senior Scientific Officer / Senior Design Engineer.

Additional Eligibility Information

• Regular courses from recognized Universities/Institutions should have been completed for the prescribed qualifications.
• Relaxation in age, qualification and/or experience may be considered for exceptionally meritorious candidates with approval of the competent authority.
• The desirable age is 35 years, with relaxation as per Government of India guidelines.
• Reservation will be applicable as per Government of India norms.
• The positions are open to Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).
• Women and candidates from other underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job/Position Description- 

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) has invited online applications for vacant faculty positions under a Special Recruitment Drive (SRD) for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwD candidates. The recruitment is for Assistant Professor Grade I and Associate Professor positions across Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, and Humanities & Social Sciences. Candidates with excellent academic records, strong research credentials, and teaching experience are encouraged to apply.

Summary Table

Designation

1. Assistant Professor Grade I

• Pay Level: 12
• Initial Pay: ₹1,01,500/-
• Candidates with a relevant Ph.D. and 3 years of regular service at Pay Level 12 may be considered for placement at Pay Level 13A1, subject to performance evaluation.

2. Associate Professor

• Pay Level: 13A2
• Initial Pay: ₹1,39,600/-

Selected faculty members will contribute to the academic and research activities of IISER Bhopal. The responsibilities include:

• Teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and/or doctoral-level courses.
• Developing and delivering high-quality academic programmes.
• Conducting independent, innovative and high-impact research.
• Publishing research findings in reputed journals and conferences.
• Guiding and mentoring students and research scholars.
• Developing externally funded research projects and collaborations.
• Contributing to departmental and institutional academic activities.
• Participating in seminars, workshops, conferences and professional activities.
• Supporting the growth of the respective academic department.

Salary, Benefits & Perquisites

In addition to the prescribed basic pay, selected faculty members may receive benefits according to IISER/GoI rules, including:

• DA, HRA and TA.
• Residential accommodation on campus, subject to availability.
• National Pension System (NPS), including applicable employer contribution.
• Moving expenses up to ₹1,25,000 for candidates from abroad and ₹75,000 for candidates within India, against bills.
• ₹1,00,000 per financial year under the Cumulative Professional Development Account (CPDA), on a reimbursement basis.
• Support for national/international conferences, professional memberships and books through CPDA.
• Telephone/mobile/broadband reimbursement as per applicable entitlement.
• Leave Travel Concession (LTC) as per Government of India rules.
• Children Education Allowance.
• Medical expense reimbursement for self and dependent family members as per Institute rules.

Selection Process

The selection process involves departmental and institute-level screening:

1. Applications will be shortlisted by the Departmental Faculty Affairs Committee (DFAC) based on overall suitability.
2. The assessment may consider the application, seminar performance and inputs from departmental faculty members.
3. The Institute Faculty Affairs Committee (IFAC) will review the DFAC recommendations.
4. Further shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
5. Shortlisted candidates are generally required to appear in person for the interview.
6. Candidates residing outside India may be permitted to attend online, subject to the Institute’s specified conditions.
