Research Area & Job Description
The selected Research Associate will work on advanced biomaterials focusing on Peptide and Nucleopeptide Based Soft Biomaterials in Antimicrobial Therapeutics to Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). The fellow will be responsible for conducting experimental research, synthesizing and evaluating soft biomaterials, culturing bacterial strains, and analyzing antimicrobial efficiency.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- A first-class Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Biological Sciences or any related discipline / Biochemistry / Chemistry.
- A minimum average of 60% marks in both B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. examinations, along with a consistently strong academic record.
- Candidate must have obtained a Ph.D. or submitted their Ph.D. thesis in a relevant area.
- Proven research experience supported by publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
- Note: Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis are also eligible to apply.
Desirable Skills:
Candidates possessing expertise in the following domains will be given preference:
- Handling and cultivation of bacterial pathogens, including antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) strains.
- Antimicrobial drug screening, susceptibility testing, and drug re-sensitization studies.
- Bactericidal kinetics and time-kill assay methodologies.
- Biochemical characterization of enzyme–substrate interactions and enzymatic reaction mechanisms.
Terms and Conditions
- The position is purely temporary and institute-funded. The candidate will have no claim to any regular or permanent post at IACS.
- Evaluation will be conducted every six months to assess performance for tenure extension.
- No TA/DA will be paid to candidates attending the interview.
