Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong mathematical foundation in optimization, statistical learning, and probability.
- Thorough understanding of machine learning, information retrieval, and recommender system methodologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages (preferably Python) and machine learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
- Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Job Description
The selected candidate will focus on various aspects of trustworthy recommender systems, including:
- Algorithmic Transparency and Explainability: Investigate methods to explain the rationale behind recommendations.
- Bias Mitigation and Fairness: Implement strategies to address algorithmic biases and promote inclusivity.
- Privacy-Preserving Recommendations: Explore approaches for personalized recommendations while preserving user privacy.
- Robustness and Safety: Develop mechanisms to withstand adversarial attacks and ensure system stability.
Candidates will join a dynamic team at TU Delft, contributing to research that impacts e-commerce, social platforms, healthcare, and more. The PhD position includes a 4-year period of employment, with an initial 1.5-year contract and a subsequent 2.5-year contract based on performance.
