Eligibility/Qualification

  • Applicants must hold an excellent Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge in one or more areas of:
    • Machine Learning
    • Computer Vision
    • Large Language Models
    • Robotics
    • Diffusion Models
    • Reinforcement Learning
    • Related AI fields
  • Strong programming skills with experience in Python and PyTorch preferred.
  • Ability to independently develop, implement, and evaluate research ideas.
  • High motivation, scientific curiosity, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of German is advantageous but not mandatory.

Job Description / Research Work

The selected PhD researchers will:

  • Conduct research on learning-based robotic systems that can perceive, reason, and act in complex environments.
  • Develop methods related to:
    • Vision-language-action models
    • Robotic world models
    • Active perception
    • Structured memory systems
    • Human-robot cognitive alignment
    • Hybrid imitation and reinforcement learning
    • Medical robotics
  • Implement and evaluate AI models through simulations and experiments with physical robots.
  • Publish research findings at leading international conferences and journals.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the Physical AI Lab.
