Eligibility/Qualification

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum 2.1 Honours degree (or equivalent) in Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or closely related discipline.
  • Strong interest in biomedical research and cancer biology.
  • Demonstrated laboratory skills, including experience with cell culture, protein biochemistry, and biological analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable Criteria:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent research experience) in a relevant field (e.g., Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, Molecular Cell Biology).
  • Previous hands-on experience with cell culture, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry.
  • Familiarity with good experimental design and statistical software such as GraphPad or R.

Description

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of cell biologists, physiologists, and bioinformaticians at UCC. The research aims to elucidate the pathways that allow glioblastomas to invade normal brain tissue, to aid in the development of more effective treatment strategies.
