About- Empa is the research institute for materials science and technology of the ETH Domain and conducts cutting-edge research for the benefit of industry and the well-being of society. Laboratory for Mechanics of Materials and Nanostructures is looking for a PostDoc on Electrochemical deposition mechanisms of metals
using state of the art STM techniques in liquid and/or inside 3D molds made by 2-photon lithography. PostDoc Position 2019 in Switzerland, EMPA- Swiss Federal Laboratories

Eligibility/Qualification– Research group is looking for a postdoctoral researcher with qualifications in Electrochemistry and either Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science. Research is conducted in an international environment, in cooperation with several industrial and academic partners. Stable funding is provided through long-term European projects and industrial projects.
A strong desire to work at the leading edge of measurement science and a high level of motivation to work in an international, multidisciplinary research team in the field of materials science are essential.
Knowledge of English (oral and written) is important and knowledge of German or French would be an advantage.
Experience in material characterization withcutting edge analytical techniques for microstructure analysis such as XRD, SEM, XPS etc. and/or experience with nanoelectrochemistry based-equipment is a plus.
Job/Position Description-
You will be able to assist in
- the development of the electrochemical deposition using a liquid cell for STM and inside lithographic mold in order to produce 3D metallic structures
- physical characterization of the deposit (chemical, microstructural, optical, mechanical…)
