Job/Position Description- Research group is  looking for a qualified, motivated and experienced Post-Doctoral Research Associate to conduct sponsored research on nanoparticles in biological systems. This project is a part of cooperative research effort between Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD and NJIT, Newark, NJ. The research is primarily focused on elucidating fundamentals of blast induced traumatic brain injury (TBI) including the Neuro-biochemistry, Nanotechnology and neurological outcome in small animal models. Under the direction of the Principal Investigators at ARL and NJIT, the candidate will engage in the synthesis, functionalization, characterization and delivery of nanoparticles to the brain on experimental rat models. Using cutting-edge technical tools, the candidate will identify active biological mechanisms and molecules through innovative particle delivery to target cells and proteins. The ideal candidates should demonstrate good work ethics, work independently as well as in a team. This position will also require the ability to manage laboratory personnel, work with students at all levels, communicate with facilities management, collect, analyze, and present data in the group and in scientific forums, and publish in high quality journals. The work will be primarily performed at NJIT, Newark, NJ.

Candidate have ability to develop basic synthesis of functionalized nanoparticles or clusters that exhibit fluorescent properties even within cells. Examine conjugation with antibodies and verify biocompatibility. Explore imaging or other quantification methods. Identify methods for targeted delivery to cells, proteins in specific tissues in brain (crossing BBB). Validate that the methods can be used for diagnostics and therapeutic.
