About- The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye-Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualifications: A candidate should have a first or high second class M.Sc. degree in Physics with minimum average of 55% marks in B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. examination along with good overall academic record and has obtained Ph.D. with research experience supported by publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of gravitational physics with experience in gravitational wave astrophysics. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in numerical analysis involving the ringdown spectrum, as well as tidal effects.
Age: The upper age limit shall be 35 years as of the last date of application with usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/differently abled candidates. Age relaxation may also be given to outstanding candidates or candidates with relevant experience.

Fellowship: A selected candidate holding a Ph.D. degree at the time of joining will receive the fellowship of the RA-I position from the date of joining (Rs. 58,000/- + HRA as per the rules of the Institute).
Tenure of Fellowship: 2 years from the date of joining as RA-I, subject to an evaluation after one year and availability of funds as per the rules of the Institute.
