Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Freiburg: The Department of Forest Genetics at the University of Freiburg is offering a full-time position for a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the phenology of tropical tree species and the evolutionary ecology of trees. The successful candidate will be part of a DFG-funded Emmy Noether project, focusing on climatic cues triggering phenological transitions in neotropical tree species and their impact on plant-animal interactions. This position involves fieldwork in Southern Ecuador and collaboration with Ecuadorian partner institutions.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc in biology, ecology, environmental science, or related fields
- Completed Ph.D. with excellent results
- Experience in postdoctoral research preferred
- Fieldwork experience in the neotropics
- Proficiency in Spanish for communication with local workers, NGOs, and authorities
- Previous research experience in tree ecology, phenology, plant-animal interactions, or population genetics
- Laboratory skills are advantageous
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Meticulous work ethic
- Ability to work under challenging field conditions in a tropical rainforest, tree climbing experience a plus
- Proficiency in data handling and statistical data analysis (preferably in R)
- Excellent writing skills with proof of scientific publications
- Previous teaching experience is beneficial
- Fluency in German is advantageous for teaching at the bachelor level
Job Description:
- Conduct research on the phenology of tropical tree species and their impact on plant-animal interactions
- Collaborate with Ph.D. students, supervise BSc and MSc students
- Participate in data collection in Ecuador and coordinate a Citizen Science project
- Support the working group in research, teaching, and administrative tasks
- Teach courses in German with a 4-semester hour teaching load
