Location- Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun

  • General: Most positions involve extensive fieldwork across various landscapes in India (Sloth bear range states and Gangetic river systems).
  • Specific: The Senior Project Associate (Government Liaison & Coordination) will be primarily based at the MoEFCC in Delhi.
  • Headquarters: Some administrative and data synthesis work for Project Assistants will be based at the WII Headquarters in Dehradun.

Eligibility/Qualification–

  • Project Scientist – II: Doctoral Degree in Natural Sciences (Wildlife Science, Zoology, Ecology, etc.) or Master’s in Engineering/Technology/Veterinary Science with 3 years of research experience.
  • Principal Project Associate: Master’s Degree with 8 years of experience, or Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology with 8 years of experience, or Doctoral Degree with 4 years of experience.
  • Senior Project Associate: Master’s/Bachelor’s (4yr) degree in relevant fields with 4 years of experience, or Doctoral Degree.
  • Project Associate-I: Master’s Degree or 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Sciences, Veterinary Science, or Engineering/Technology.
  • Project Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Wildlife, Zoology, Ecology, etc.) or a 3-year Diploma in Engineering.

Job/Position Description–

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, is inviting online applications from Indian nationals for 16 different categories of research positions.   • Sloth Bear Project: Overall coordination, population mapping, human-wildlife conflict assessment, GIS-based hotspot mapping, and non-invasive genetic sampling. Coordination with State Forest Departments and local stakeholders is a key component.
  • Gharial Project: Leading field visits, population surveys, nesting ecology studies, habitat assessment, and riverine ecology research. Roles involve boat-based surveys, telemetry, and community engagement.
