Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential Qualifications: PhD in Environmental Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences/Climate Sciences or closely related field.

Desirable: Strong background in atmospheric science and air quality research. Knowledge of air quality monitoring sensors/regulatory-grade instruments. Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence models. Significant background in handling and processing large data sets. Experience in GIS analysis. Knowledge of programming languages like FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB, Igore, R, QGIS/ArcGIS.

Job/Position Description- 

Salary: INR 60000-5000-85000 per month consolidated (Salary shall be commensurate with experience & skills)

Nature of position: Temporary/Contractual

Number of Positions: One (01)

Duration of appointment: 1 Year or till the end of the project (whichever is earlier), renewed annually based on performance

Nature of Work: The project focuses on developing and deploying a Machine Learning–based framework for district-wise, real-time PM2.5 prediction and hotspot analysis. The work involves processing and conducting time-series analysis of air quality sensor data with detailed spatial and temporal information, applying advanced ML and Deep Learning models to handle missing data and generate hourly predictions. It includes validation of model performance and outputs under the guidance of experts in Machine Learning and Aerosol Science, along with visualising PM2.5 concentration patterns through heat maps and satellite-based spatial overlays. Additionally, the role requires identifying pollution hotspots, analysing temporal trends across districts, and coordinating with external partners to ensure smooth execution of the project objectives.
