Teaching Positions

Qualifications for Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor positions are governed by the applicable UGC Regulations on minimum qualifications for appointment of teachers and academic staff, 2018, as amended, or applicable NCTE/AICTE norms.

A minimum of 55% marks at Master’s level is generally required for direct recruitment of teachers and equivalent cadres, subject to applicable relaxations. A 5% relaxation is provided at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels for specified reserved/PwBD categories.

For Assistant Professor appointments, NET/SLET/SET is the minimum eligibility wherever prescribed under UGC Regulations. Candidates meeting the specified Ph.D. conditions may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET.

Technical College

Examples of qualifications include:

  • Principal: First Class Engineering/Technology degree with 10 years’ relevant experience; relaxation in experience for M.E./M.Tech. holders.
  • Senior Lecturer: Engineering/Technology degree with 55% marks and eight years’ professional/teaching experience, including at least five years as Lecturer.
  • Lecturer: Relevant Master’s degree with at least 55% marks.
  • Assistant Lecturer: Relevant Engineering diploma with three years’ experience or relevant Engineering degree.

Non-Teaching Positions

Qualifications range from Master’s/Bachelor’s degrees to Diploma, ITI, Intermediate and Matriculation, depending on the post. Relevant professional, laboratory, administrative or technical experience is required for several positions.

For example, the Controller of Examination requires a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks plus substantial academic/administrative experience, while Junior Assistant requires Intermediate with CCC certification or an equivalent computer qualification and typing proficiency.

Designation: Teaching Positions

Selected candidates will be responsible for duties associated with their respective academic, teaching, administrative, technical, laboratory, library, clerical or support positions.

Teaching faculty will undertake teaching, academic and research-related responsibilities in their respective disciplines and may be required to participate in seminars, presentations and other institutional academic activities.

Technical and laboratory personnel will support laboratory operations, equipment handling, practical instruction, technical activities and departmental requirements.

Administrative and clerical personnel will perform office administration, examination, accounts, documentation, computer operations, record management and related institutional duties.

Support staff will undertake trade-specific, laboratory, maintenance, workshop and other duties assigned to their respective positions.

The Institute may conduct Seminar-cum-Presentation, Aptitude Test, Trade Test and/or Interview, depending on the post. Only candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee may be called for these stages.
