Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ), Berlin offers Research Assistant / Postdoc position in the field of Classical Semiconductors, Research Group: GaAs for candidates having Ph.D. in physics (preferred in solid state physics or physics of semiconductors), materials science, chemical and process engineering, or similar discipline.

About- The Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ) is a leading research institution in the area of crystal growth of technologically important materials for micro-, opto- and power electronics, sensors, optics and laser technology. This ranges from explorative fundamental research to pre-industrial development. It is part of Forschungsverbund Berlin and a member of the Leibniz Association.

Research/Job Area- Physics, crystallography, materials science or a related discipline

Eligibility/Qualification- Applicants should hold a Diploma or an MSc degree in physics, crystallography, materials science or a related discipline. A Ph.D. in physics (preferred in solid state physics or physics of semiconductors), materials science, chemical and process engineering, or similar discipline is desirable.

We are looking for a team player with a high level of communication skills and the assertiveness to work in a highly motivated team of researchers and technicians. The position allows the successful candidate to qualify himself in a state-of-the-art crystal growth environment for a leading career either in academia or industry.

Scientific writing competence in English is a prerequisite.

Job/Position Description- The research tasks include the realization of project-specific crystal growth experiments as well as the physical and structural characterization of theses crystals.

The focus is thereby on compound semiconductor materials using the vertical gradient freeze (VGF) method under the influence of magnetic fields.

The position is available immediately and its duration is limited to 18 month, with the possibility of extension. Payment is according to TVöD (collective labour agreement for German public service).
