About- Applications are invited for a temporary Research Associate – III position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras. This role focuses on electronic cooling applications and involves designing, fabricating, and optimizing thermal management systems. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field with at least three Q1 journal publications. Age limit is 31 years (34 for SC/ST/OBC NCL). Eligibility/Qualification–
Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
A minimum of three Q1 journal publications as the first author and/or corresponding author.
Candidates with research expertise in one or more of the following areas will be preferred: Heat transfer devices, Phase change heat transfer processes, Surface engineering, Flow boiling, Thermal management and electronic cooling.
Age Limit: Maximum 31 years as on the last date of application. Additional +3 years for SC/ST/OBC NCL candidates.

This position is part of a sponsored research project focused on electronic cooling applications. The selected candidate will be expected to actively contribute to the design, fabrication, experimental investigation, and performance optimization of advanced thermal management systems. Key responsibilities are mentioned below.
- Design and develop in-house experimental facilities to investigate flow boiling heat transfer on various engineered surfaces and evaluate the influence of surface characteristics on phase-change heat transfer.
- Preparing reports, presentations, articles, etc.
- Mentoring MTech/MS and PhD students.
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with strong communication, experimental, and scientific aptitudes, and the ability to design and execute research activities independently.
