Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore invites applications for one Research Associate position under an ANRF-funded research project titled “Development of Cost-effective and High-Performance Sodium-ion Batteries for Scalable Energy Storage.” The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional year based on mutual consent.

Eligibility / Qualification
Essential Qualification
- Ph.D. in Electrochemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in cathode materials for Na-ion batteries.
- Candidates with a strong publication record in Li/Na-ion batteries will be preferred.
- Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis but have not yet received the degree are also eligible.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in layered oxide synthesis and electrochemical characterization.
- Expertise in assembly, testing, and analysis of pouch-type Na-ion full cells.
- Strong research publications in Li/Na-ion battery materials.
- Good communication skills and strong spoken and written English.

Maximum 32 years
Job Description
The selected Research Associate will be responsible for:
- Synthesizing and optimizing sodium layered oxide cathodes with the desired microstructure.
- Developing and optimizing prototype Na-ion full cells using layered oxides as the positive electrode and commercial hard carbon as the negative electrode.
- Conducting comprehensive structural and electrochemical characterization, including:
- Galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD) cycling
- Cyclic voltammetry (CV)
- Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
- Operando XRD measurements
- Preparing project progress reports.
- Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Fellowship / Salary
₹58,000 per month + HRA (if applicable).
Duration
1 year, extendable for an additional year upon mutual consent.
