About- The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential qualification: PhD in Science. Candidates who have submitted PhD thesis, but yet to receive the degree are also eligible to apply. But if selected, they will be receiving reduced fellowship (equivalent to SRF position) until the PhD degree certificate is submitted.
Desired past research experience: Past research experience in synthesis of organic compounds, selfassembly of supramolecular entities, syntheses of perovskite materials precursors or covalent/metal organic frameworks, and their applications. Fellowship: As per rules of IACS
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the post of Research Associate-I in the group of Professor Somobrata Acharya, affiliated to the Technical Research Centre (TRC), IACS, Kolkata, for conducting Translational research as per the mandate of the TRC.
Tenure: This position is temporary initially up to 31st March, 2026 or till the termination of the project or whichever is earlier. The tenure can be extended for another 1-year subject to continuation of the project and recommendation of the research advisory committee at the end of the initial tenure.
Candidates will have no right to claim (explicit or implicit) any post in the institute.
Last date for receiving application: 20-June-2025 (5.00 PM)
Selection procedure: Applications will be shortlisted on the basis of past academic record, research publications, match of the past research expertise with desired requirements and other academic parameters, as decided by the selection committee. Only shortlisted candidates will be communicated via email and called for an interview for the final selection. Merely satisfying the essential qualification does not guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. IACS holds the full right of not selecting any, in case suitable applications are not received. In case of exceptional candidates, more than one position may be filled subject to availability of vacancy. Based on the past research experience and academic background, the selection committee holds the right to recommend the placement of the selected candidates as RA-I or RA-II or RA-III as per DST guideline.
Date of Interview: Tentatively in the 4th week of June, 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be informed the schedule through email.
