Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), India invites applications for Recruitment for Project Scientist from eligible and interested candidates
About- Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), is inviting applications for 21 contractual positions for the “Pollution Inventorisation Assessment & Surveillance (PIAS)” project implemented under the Namami Gange Programme. The appointments are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project (up to March 31, 2026, extendable based on performance and requirement).

Eligibility/Qualification–
- Sr. Project Associate: Master’s in Science (Environment Science, Chemistry, GIS & Remote Sensing) or Bachelor’s in Engineering/Technology (Civil, Chemical, Environment Engg., Env. Management of Rivers & Lakes, GIS/Remote Sensing) with 4 years’ relevant experience, or Doctoral Degree in related field.
- Project Scientist-I: Doctoral Degree in Science (as above) OR Master’s in Engineering/Technology (Civil, Chemical, Environment Engg., Env. Management of Rivers & Lakes, GIS/Remote Sensing).
- Project Scientist-II: Doctoral Degree in Science (as above) OR Master’s in Engineering/Technology (as above) with 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Project Scientist-III: Doctoral Degree in Science (as above) OR Master’s in Engineering/Technology (as above) with 7 years’ relevant experience.
Relevant field experience preference: environmental monitoring, physico-chemical/biological analysis, pollution abatement/control, NABL-accredited labs, industrial pollution management, data analysis, GIS.

The roles are centered around Pollution Inventorisation, Assessment and Surveillance of River Ganga and related water bodies, including field and laboratory work in environmental monitoring, data management, interpretation, and application of GIS and Remote Sensing.
- Conducting pollution inventorisation and assessment of river systems.
- Collection, management, analysis, and interpretation of environmental data.
- Field visits for monitoring and sampling.
- Engagement in pollution control, industrial abatement, and GIS & remote sensing applications.
- Preparing technical reports.
