Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in microbiology, microbial ecology, bioinformatics, or relevant fields
- Proven track record of scientific productivity through publications in international journals
- Comprehensive understanding of plasmids, microbial evolution, and microbial ecology
- Experience with state-of-the-art ‘omics data types and strategies
- Proficiency in UNIX terminal environment and handling large datasets
- Commitment to open science principles
- Very good command of English (equivalent to CEFR level C1)
Job Description:
- Create workflows to recover plasmids from marine metagenomes and organize them into plasmid systems.
- Compare plasmid genomes from marine systems with well-studied genomes from other biomes.
- Identify auxiliary metabolic genes in plasmids and compare them to metabolic potentials found in bacterial and archaeal chromosomes.
- Collaborate with a group of up to 5 international scientists and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in microbial evolution and metabolism.
