About- The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, has invited applications for the position of Statistics Assistant Professor (Contract Basis) in the Department of Interdisciplinary Sciences (IDS). Eligible candidates with qualifications in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science and relevant teaching/research experience are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility/Qualification–

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

• A good academic record with a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline:
  • Minimum 55% marks in Science disciplines, or
  • Minimum 60% marks in Engineering disciplines (as per UGC/AICTE norms).
• Accepted Master’s specializations:
  • Master of Statistics
  • Applied Statistics
  • Biostatistics
  • Data Science
• Must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC, CSIR, or ICAR in the relevant subject.

NET Exemption

Candidates are exempted from NET if:

• They have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 and subsequent amendments.
• NET is not conducted for the relevant Master’s discipline.

Desirable Qualifications

• Teaching, research, and/or industrial experience in a reputed Government organization recognized by the Government of India.
• Research papers presented at conferences.
• Publications in peer-reviewed/refereed journals.

Job/Position Description- 

Designation: Statistics Assistant Professor (Contract Basis)

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Teaching Statistics-related courses in the Department of Interdisciplinary Sciences.
• Conducting academic and research activities in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Biostatistics, and Data Science.
• Assisting in curriculum development and academic planning.
• Guiding students in research and project work.
• Contributing to departmental and institutional research initiatives.
• Participating in academic, administrative, and extension activities assigned by the Institute.
