Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) invites applications for one Research Associate-I position under an ANRF-funded project. The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended depending on the candidate’s performance.

Research Area
The selected candidate will work on the ANRF project titled “The science and design of robotic sandworms propulsion of deformable object through particulate media.” The research involves robotics, deformable or soft systems, experimental platforms, mechanisms, embedded systems, sensors, actuators, and robotic control.

Eligibility and Qualification
Applicants must meet one of the following minimum academic qualification requirements:
- Ph.D. or an equivalent degree; or
- ME/M.Tech followed by three years of research, teaching, design, and development experience, with at least one research paper published in a Science Citation Indexed (SCI) journal.
Desirable Experience
- Strong hands-on experience in developing and testing robotic systems, mechanisms, or experimental platforms.
- Experience working with actuators, sensors, embedded systems, and control systems for robotic platforms.
- Experience conducting laboratory experiments, instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis.
- Programming experience with MATLAB, Python, ROS, or similar tools used for robotics and experimental control.
- Ability to independently design, build, troubleshoot, and improve experimental robotic prototypes.
- Experience in field experiments, unconventional robotic platforms, or deformable and soft systems is especially desirable.
Job Description
The Research Associate-I will contribute to the design, development, testing, and analysis of robotic systems for studying the propulsion of deformable objects through particulate media. The work may include prototype development, integration of sensors and actuators, embedded and control-system implementation, laboratory experimentation, instrumentation, data acquisition, programming, analysis, troubleshooting, and iterative improvement of robotic platforms.

- The position is purely temporary and contractual.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
