MNNIT Allahabad JRF, PA-II and RA-I Recruitment 2026
Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT), Prayagraj, has invited applications from Indian nationals for four contractual research positions under an Armament Research Board (ARMREB), DRDO-funded project. Eligible candidates may apply for Junior Research Fellow, Project Associate-II and Research Associate-I positions by September 16, 2026.
Designation and Vacancies
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): 2 positions
- Project Associate-II (PA-II): 1 position
- Research Associate-I (RA-I): 1 position
Research Area
The appointments are for the project titled “Failure Envelope Development and Multiscale Modelling for Solid Rocket Propellants using Coupled Experimental-Computational Approaches.” The project is funded by the Armament Research Board (ARMREB), DRDO.
Location
- JRF: One position at MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj, and one position at HEMRL, DRDO, Pune.
- Project Associate-II: MNNIT Allahabad, Prayagraj.
- Research Associate-I: HEMRL, DRDO, Pune.
Eligibility and Qualification
Junior Research Fellow
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Materials, Material Science, Engineering and Computational Mechanics, or Production Engineering with First Division.
- M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Material, Material Science, Manufacturing, Production, Machine, Design, Thermal, Fluids, Engineering Mechanics and Design, or Applied Mechanics with First Division.
- A valid qualification in a national-level examination such as GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET from previous years.
- Desirable: Experience in finite element analysis of composites or experimental work related to composites.
Project Associate-II
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Materials, Material Science, Engineering and Computational Mechanics, or Production Engineering with First Division.
- M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Material, Material Science, Manufacturing, Production, Machine, Design, Thermal, Fluids, Engineering Mechanics and Design, or Applied Mechanics with First Division.
- A valid qualification in a national-level examination such as GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET from previous years.
- Desirable: Experience in finite element analysis of composites using ABAQUS or ANSYS, or experimental work related to composites.
Research Associate-I
- Ph.D. degree, or M.Tech with at least three years of research, teaching, design or development experience.
- Specialization should be in Applied Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics and Design, Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Stress Analysis, Solid Mechanics or another relevant discipline.
- At least one research paper published in a Science Citation Index (SCI) journal is required.
- Desirable: Knowledge of mechanical and thermal characterization of composite materials and development of FEA models in ANSYS or ABAQUS.
Fellowship and Tenure
- JRF: Rs. 37,000 per month plus 20% HRA; tenure of three years.
- Project Associate-II: Rs. 35,000 per month plus 20% HRA for candidates possessing the stated national-level examination qualification. Candidates without that qualification will receive Rs. 28,000 per month plus applicable 20% HRA; tenure of two years.
- Research Associate-I: Rs. 58,000 per month plus 20% HRA; tenure of two years.
Job Description
Selected candidates will undertake research concerning failure-envelope development and multiscale modelling of solid rocket propellants through coupled experimental and computational methods. Depending on the position, duties may include composite-material testing, mechanical and thermal characterization, finite element analysis, and FEA model development using ABAQUS or ANSYS.
All positions are purely temporary and will be governed by the funding agency’s rules and the service conditions of the Research and Consultancy Cell, MNNIT Allahabad. Appointment offers will be issued subject to the receipt and availability of project funds.
Age Limit
The age limit will be as prescribed under DST norms. The upper age limit may be relaxed by up to five years for SC, ST, OBC, PwD and female candidates.
Selection Process
- Candidates will be shortlisted according to merit, relevant previous work and project requirements.
- Shortlisted applicants will receive interview details by email.
- Interviews will be conducted in physical mode only.
- Candidates must bring an updated CV and original documents with attested photocopies supporting their academic qualifications.
- Employed applicants must submit a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the interview.
- No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
