About- Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), is an Institute of National Importance at par with all other IITs and IIMs and enacted by the Parliament vide the Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy Act, 2017 (No: 3 of 2018). It has started its operations in
2016 at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, engaged in teaching, research and development.

Eligibility/Qualification–

IIPE invites applications from Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)*, who are exceptionally bright and motivated, with an established record of independent, high-quality research and commitment to teaching, for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor at IIPE.

(*) Foreign Nationals (Other than OCIs & NRIs) are also encouraged to apply for a faculty position for a fixed tenure not exceeding five years on a contract basis, subject to clearance from Government of India (GOI).

Women candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Assistant Professor Grade-I

Qualification: The candidate must have Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with the consistently good academic record throughout.

Experience: At least 3 years of industrial/research/teaching experience after completing PhD, excluding the experience gained while pursuing a Ph.D.

Assistant Professor Grade II

Candidates with less than 3 years’ industrial/research/teaching experience after completing Ph.D. for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor Grade-I, may be taken as Assistant Professor Grade II.

For Assistant Professor Grade-II and Assistant Professor Grade I positions, the candidates should be preferably below 40 years of age.

Associate Professor

Qualification: The candidate must have Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently good academic record throughout.

Experience: A minimum of 6 years teaching/research/professional experience, of which 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor, Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer in a research organization or industry.

Candidates should be preferably below 45 years of age.

Professor

Qualification: The candidate must have a Ph.D. with First Class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with consistently good academic record throughout.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years teaching/research/professional experience, of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in an academic institute or equivalent position in a research organization or industry.

The candidate should have demonstrated leadership in research in a specific area of specialization in terms of guidance of M.Tech. and Ph.D. students, and has a strong record of sponsored research, publications in reputed journals and referred conferences, patents, laboratory/course development, and other recognized relevant professional activities.

Candidates should be preferably below 55 years of age.

Reservation: Without any compromise on qualification, experience, and competence, reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories is applicable as MHRD/Government of India rules.

Job/Position Description-

Assistant Professor Grade-I

As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay to be fixed at Rs. 1,01,500 p.m. (Pay Matrix Level 12) along with other allowances as per IIPE norms. After completion of 3 years of satisfactory service, they may be placed in pay matrix level 13A1 along with other allowances, however
designated to be Assistant Professors.

Assistant Professor Grade II

At the entry level, they may be placed at the appropriate pay level of VII CPC scales, on par with other IITs, with minimum Pay to be fixed at Rs. 70,900 p.m.

Once selected in this position, the candidate will be considered for Tenure Track for the post of Assistant Professor Grade I upon reaching the required work experience.

Associate Professor

As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay to be fixed at Rs. 1,39,600 p.m. (Pay Matrix level 13A2) along with other allowances as per IIPE norms.

Professor

As per 7th CPC, the minimum pay to be fixed at Rs. 1,59,100 p.m. (Pay Matrix level 14A) along with other allowances as per IIPE norms.
