Scholarship Description:
The Simons–Ashoka Early Career Fellowship in Quantitative Biomedical Sciences is a unique and collaborative research initiative that aims to provide a prestigious opportunity for interdisciplinary early career researchers to obtain quantitative insights in biomedical sciences and related areas. The fellowship will extend the impact of the Simons Foundation to address healthcare needs in low- and middle-income countries and incubate pioneering initiatives in personalized medicine. Each Fellow will have the opportunity to work independently while being co-mentored by a talented faculty in the sciences at Ashoka and a globally reputed faculty engaged in the research area of their choice.
Eligibility:
The fellowship is open to applicants of any nationality, although the research has to be conducted at Ashoka University or in collaboration with a laboratory in the National Capital Region of India. Applicants, both national and international, should hold a doctorate degree at the start of the fellowship and apply within two years of obtaining their PhD prior to the date of application submission. Applications are encouraged from researchers working in areas such as Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences, Physical and Engineering Sciences, Pure and Applied Mathematics, and Computer and Information Sciences.

For candidates without doctoral degrees, the project proposal is required to be developed and written with the help of the named mentor/co-mentor).

Selection process
- The applications will be screened. Shortlisted candidates will be requested to appear for a detailed interview over an online platform. The selection committee consists of prominent international researchers in the relevant field from across the world. In the rare circumstances where a mentor has not been identified at the time of application, an opportunity may be provided to screened candidates to identify a mentor before the interview.
- The selection will be based on relevance and impact of the documented research contribution in the subject area supported by the fellowship, innovation in the proposed research and strength of the candidate highlighted in the recommendation letters.
