Research/Job Area-

Faculty requirements in various Schools and desirable areas of expertise:

School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences (SAIS):

Assistant Professor (UR): One (1), Faculty Fellow: One (1)

Desirable areas of expertise:

Biological Sciences: The candidate should have in-depth research experience and rigorous training in Biology/Biological Sciences / Chemical Biology with desirable expertise in molecular biosystems / synthetic and system biology /bioengineering /disease biology/biomedicine (secondary affiliation to the School of Biological Sciences)

Physical Sciences: The candidate should have in-depth research experience and rigorous training in Physical Sciences / Soft Matter with desirable expertise in soft matter devices/energy materials and harvesting / wearable flexible electronics / micropower devices.

Positions are open to both streams.

School of Biological Sciences (SBS):

Professor (UR): One (1),Associate Professor(UR): One (1); Assistant Professor (UR): Two (2); Faculty Fellow: One (1)

Desirable areas of expertise:

The applicants must have experience in the following field of Biological Sciences/Life Sciences (but not limited to) with high-impact publications. The candidates must be aware of designing de novo courses in her/his area of interest and teaching undergraduate/postgraduate/PhD students at IACS. Structural Biology / Neuroscience / Biophysics/Biophysical Chemistry / Computational Biology/Immunology/Disease Biology/Cellular and Molecular Biology/Developmental Biology/Bioinformatics/Functional Genomics/Genetics and Epigenetics.

Positions are open to all the areas stated above.

School of Chemical Sciences (SCS):

Faculty Fellow: One (1)

Desirable areas of expertise:

Organic synthesis (Carbohydrates and natural products)
Biosynthesis
Organometallic chemistry.
Metallo-enzymology.

The position is open to all areas.

4.4 School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences (SMCS):

Professor (UR): One (1); Assistant Professor (UR): Three (3); Faculty Fellow:One (1)

Desirable areas of expertise:

Computer Science:

Database Management Systems, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Distributed Computing, Information Security and Cryptography, Compiler Construction, Computer Organization and Architecture, and Big Data.

Mathematics:

Algebra, Number Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Partial Differential Equations, Topology, (Algebraic and Differential), Geometry and Representation Theory, Probability Theory and Stochastic Process, Statistics, Ergodic Theory, and Dynamic Systems.

4.5 School of Materials Science (SMS):

Solid-state Chemistry, Single Crystal growth, Quantum materials
Single particle/molecular spectroscopy and imaging
Simulations, Big data, and Machine Learning for predicting new materials and their properties 4) Optoelectronic Materials and Devices; Photovoltaics and LEDs.

4.6 School of Physical Sciences (SPS):

Faculty Fellow: One (1)

Desirable areas of expertise:

Experimental Quantum Optics and Photonics
Gravitational wave astrophysics, or cosmology (within the domain of gravitational physics)
String theory

Eligibility/Qualification–

The essential qualification norms and Pay Level as per the 7^th CPC for the different Positions:

Faculty Fellow (Pay Level 11): Ph.D. with 2 years of post-doctoral experience with commendable research publications. Age limit: Not exceeding 40 years.

Assistant Professor (Pay Level 12): Ph.D. with 4 years of post-doctoral experience with commendable research publications. Age limit: Preferably below 50 years.

Associate Professor (Pay Level 13): Ph.D. with 8 years of independent teaching and research experience of sustained Quality. Age limit: Preferably below 50 years.

Professor (Pay Level 13-A): Established scientists with proven leadership Qualities, widely recognized in his/her area of research. Age limit: Preferably below 50 years.

Desirable: Ph.D. with 12 years of Independent ResearchExperience with commendable research publications as well as teaching experience

The applicants must have an excellent academic record and research experience with high-impact publications and should be able to design de novo courses in her/his areas of interest. They must participate in teaching undergraduate/postgraduate/Ph.D. students at IACS, and bring extramural research grants. The faculty members recruited in one School may also have concurrent affiliations with other Schools.

Interested candidates possessing requisite qualifications and experience are requested to apply electronically to “apply@iacs.res.in”, with full bio-data containing the list of publications, description of teaching and research experience, and future teaching and research plans as per the attached format. They should also mention the names of six referees familiar with their work.

Apart from that, the candidates should also send their duly filled-in applications in the prescribed format affixing a passport-size photograph along with requisite documents in support of theireducational qualification, age, and experience in a sealed envelope superscripted clearly
