Eligibility/Qualification–
- Academic Qualification: PhD in the relevant discipline with First Class or equivalent (in terms of grades) in the preceding degree and a very good academic record throughout.
- Assistant Professor Grade I: Minimum of 3 years post-PhD teaching/research/professional experience. Must demonstrate strong research capability (high-quality publications, patents, etc.).
- Assistant Professor Grade II: Candidates not fulfilling the minimum experience for Grade I or judged not ready yet. These positions are contractual and may be elevated to Grade I after due process.

IIT Goa invites applications from Indian nationals belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) for the position of Assistant Professor. Candidates should possess an excellent academic background, a commitment to top-quality teaching, and proven credentials for carrying out outstanding research and development.
Designation & Pay Structure
- Assistant Professor Grade-I:
- Pay Level: Level 12 (Cell 1) as per 7th CPC
- Pay Matrix: INR 1,01,500 – 1,67,400 (Min. Basic Pay: INR 1,01,500/-)
- Assistant Professor Grade-II: (Contractual, for candidates with less experience)
- Pay Level: Level 10 (Min. INR 84,700/-) OR Level 11 (Min. INR 89,900/- or INR 92,600/- depending on experience).
- Teaching: The applicant must indicate core and/or elective courses they can teach or develop. A teaching statement indicating previous experience (Instructor/Tutor/TA) and recognitions of excellence is required.
- Research: Candidates are expected to carry out outstanding research and development. A research statement evaluating clarity of thought, seriousness, and context regarding global research efforts is required.
- Probation: Normally one year for regular appointments.
