Eligibility/Qualification–
A. Eligibility Criteria
- Master’s Degree:
A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever grading system is followed) in Physics or a related subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. - NET / SLET / SET / Ph.D.:
- Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by UGC (like SLET / SET), OR
- Must hold a Ph.D. degree awarded in accordance with the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments.
- Ph.D. Registration before July 11, 2009:
Candidates registered for Ph.D. before this date shall be governed by previous regulations and exempted from NET/SLET/SET, provided they meet the following conditions:- Ph.D. awarded in regular mode
- Thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners
- Open viva voce conducted
- At least two research papers published from Ph.D. work (one in a refereed journal)
- At least two papers presented in conferences/seminars funded by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agencies
- Alternative Eligibility (B):
Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings (QS, THE, or ARWU – Shanghai Jiao Tong University).

Job/Position Description-
Tezpur University invites applications from eligible candidates for the position of Contractual Faculty in the Department of Physics for a period of eleven (11) months. This temporary faculty appointment offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to teaching and research in one of India’s premier central universities.

Designation
Contractual Faculty (Assistant Professor Level)
- Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physics.
- Assist in research and departmental academic activities.
- Participate in seminars, student mentoring, and curriculum development.
- Support ongoing research and contribute to the department’s academic growth
Emoluments
- Fixed Pay: ₹80,000/- per month (no additional allowances admissible).
Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Based on UGC Regulations, 2018 (Appendix II, Table 3A) academic score.
- Interview: Final selection will be based solely on performance during the personal interview.
