Post-doctoral positions – 2018 in ICFO, Barcelona, Spain

Designation/Position- Post-doctoral positions

ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, Spain invites application for post-doctoral positions from candidates having Ph.D. in Material Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering

About- The Functional Optoelectronic NanoMaterials group at ICFO, led by ICREA Prof. Gerasimos Konstantatos, is launching a research program on the design, synthesis and engineering of nanostructured inorganic materials based on Environmentally Friendly Earth Abundant elements for Energy harvesting and solar cell applications.

The program will develop new hierarchical engineering schemes of inorganic nanocrystalline semiconductor compounds from the atomic to the suprananocrystalline level to develop high performance low-cost solution-processed solar cells that can cover the broad solar spectrum from the visible to the infrared in both single junction and tandem architectures.

Location- ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, Spain

Research/Job Area- Material Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering

Eligibility/Qualification- Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) in Material Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering, prior to taking up the position.

Job/Position Description- To address this challenge, we seek highly motivated, visionary and highly skilled researchers to form a multidisciplinary team. At the moment Research group is looking for researchers with strong background on material science of inorganic compounds relevant for solar cell applications.
In particular, the incumbent should have demonstrated expertise on the development, understanding and growth of multinary inorganic semiconductor compounds (chalcogenides, chalocpyrites or perovskites), applied in thin-film photovoltaics at material level and/or device engineering level. Experience in correlating material properties (phase purity, crystallinity, composition, film morphology, interfaces) with device performance and/or characterization thereof based on optoelectronic spectroscopy techniques will be positively evaluated.

Alternatively the candidate should have demonstrated expertise on thin film PV technologies with high performance devices (including CZTS, CIGS, or perovskite (preferably on Pb-free ones). The position(s) is available for three years renewable on an annual basis depending on the performance of the incumbent and the progress of the project.

How to Apply- To apply, suitable candidates are requested to submit (in English) the following material:

  • A Cover/Presentation letter with a declaration of interest, outlining past research achievements and a description of future research aspirations.
  • A Curriculum Vitae with research publications, as well as your contact details.
  • Via the online application form, the candidate should indicate two referees, who we will contact for their reference letters if necessary.

Candidates should be willing to be contacted by phone during the selection process.

The call will remain open until suitable candidates are identified.

Candidates may contact ICFO HR and Education (jobs@icfo.eu) for informal inquiries regarding the application procedure. Informal (project-related) inquiries may be addressed to Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos (gerasimos.konstantantos@icfo.eu).

For Contact- Prof. Dr. Gerasimos Konstantatos (gerasimos.konstantantos@icfo.eu).

Last Date for Apply Until positions are filled.
