Research/Job Area- Life sciences or a related area

Location- Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal, MP, India

Eligibility/Qualification–

Research Area: Epigenetics, RNA Processing and Cancer Biology. The fellow will join the Epigenetics and RNA Processing Laboratory (Prof. Sanjeev Shukla) to study how hypoxiadriven metabolic rewiring reshapes the epigenetic landscape, including histone acetylation/lactylation switches and CTCF-dependent chromatin organisation, to control cancer-specific alternative splicing in triple-negative breast cancer. The project combines hypoxia models, chromatin profiling, splicing analysis and functional validation of isoforms.

Essential: PhD in life sciences or a related area; at least one first-author research publication; hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology.

Desirable: Chromatin profiling (ChlP-seq or RNA-seq and alternative-splicing analysis (e.g., rMATS or similar pipelines); minigene/splicing reporter assays; CRISPR editing; hypoxia culture; R or Python for NGS data analysis; in vivo tumour models.

Ph.D. scholars after submission of Thesis are also eligible to apply for Institute PDF posts. However, they have to submit the provisional/degree certificate within 6 months from the date of appointment as Institute PDF. If not submitted within the time limit, the appointment will stand cancelled or a decision will be taken in consultation with the thesis processing authority

Age limit: Preference will be given to candidates below 35 years of age as on the last date of submission of application.

Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow for the Department of Biological Sciences

Tenure: Initially for one year with the possibility of extension of another year based on the yearly performance of the IPDF,

Fellowship: Rs. 67,000/- per month + House Rent Allowance (as per Institute rules). However, the candidates who have submitted thesis and the award of PhD Degree / provisional degree is awaited, they will be paid reduced fellowship of Rs. 35,000/- per month plus HRA. On submission of PhD degree, full fellowship ofRs. 67,000/- plus I-IRA shall be restored effective from the date of award of PhD degree / provisional degree.
