About- The Singh laboratory has openings for postdoctoral fellows to work on the Wellcome Trust/DBT funded project ‘Microbe-derived olfactory signals as regulators of lipid metabolism, innate immunity, and longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans.’

Eligibility/Qualification–

Research group is looking for self-motivated individuals who want to work in a dynamic atmosphere that values multidisciplinary approaches and teamwork. The position is available for one year, with the possibility of an extension for another two years based on progress. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in biological sciences with evidence of productivity and competence. Candidates should have past training and experience in one or more of the following:

· model organism genetics

· microbiology

· mass spectrometry (GC-MS or LC-MS)

· chemical biology

· calcium signaling and microscopy

Job/Position Description- 

The lab is focused on identifying (i) bacterial odors/volatiles which induce olfactory signaling in C. elegans and activate immune response or longevity pathway, (ii) G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs) involved in sensing bacterial odors, and (iii) studying molecular events resulting from odor-GPCR signaling in C. elegans neural circuits. We plan to address these questions using a multidisciplinary approach combining C. elegans genetics, microbiology, mass spectrometry, microscopy, and behavior analyses in C. elegans. Research group expect the postdoc to work in collaboration with other people in the lab. S/he will also be supported in their career growth by sponsoring their individual fellowships and other applications.
