About- The Department of Biotechnology, IIT Madras is seeking applications for a temporary Project Associate position. The position, initially for one year, is extendable based on performance. The candidate will analyze large NGS datasets, work on the Linux platform, and have experience in bioinformatics and statistics tools. The job is full-time and requires a biodata/resume.

Eligibility/Qualification–

Doctoral Degree in Chemical Engineering/ Materials Science/ Chemistry/ related fields.

OR Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering/ Materials Science/ Chemistry/ related fields and Two years’ experience in R&D in industrial or academic institutions.

Prior knowledge of computational modelling of battery materials including molecular simulations/DFT/AI/ML would be useful.

Senior Project Associate	Rs. 57,000/- plus HRA (per month)

Research group is seeking a motivated Senior Project Associate who will support the R&D activities focused on computational and AI/ML-driven development of disruptive cathode materials for sodium ion batteries. The position is in the Condensed Matter Engineering Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering under the guidance of Prof. Abhinav S. Raman. The candidate will also work closely with the EMERGE R&D group of Prof. Nitin Muralidharan in the Department of Chemical Engineering.
The project aims to establish a novel materials discovery pipeline for sodium-ion batteries with a strong experimental collaboration, leading ultimately to the development of an upscaled prototype that surpasses current lithium and sodium-ion batteries.
The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience in Materials informatics, Technoeconomic modeling, Generative-AI based materials design, and first-principles simulations, including DFT, MD, and other relevant techniques.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Develop a materials informatics-based workflow for the down selection of sodium ion battery cathodes for experimental evaluation.
Use generative AI for the exploration of the configuration space and identify promising materials with high disruption potential for next-generation sodium-ion batteries.
Interface with experimentalists in the EMERGE group to aid in the development of a synergistic materials discovery pipeline.
Assist in the dissemination of scientific discovery through appropriate avenues.
Adhere to the group and institute’s ethical standards, promoting values of integrity, teamwork, and safety.
