About- The Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) is a society registered under Act XXI of 1860 and the corresponding State Act viz. the West Bengal State Registration Act 1961, with its headquarters at 2A & 2B, Raja S. C. Mallick Road, Calcutta – 700 032, West Bengal, India. It has a Governing Council with a number of members elected or nominated and the Registrar as its Non-Member Secretary. The Council has the functions, duties and power as envisaged in the Memorandum and Bye-Laws and as per the provisions of the relevant Act.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Minimum qualification: Candidates should have Ph.D. degree in experimental condensed matter physics and age must be below 35 years as of 1st August 2025. Candidates who have submitted the Ph.D. thesis and awaiting for the award of degree may also apply, in that case the candidate must produce a letter from a competent authority stating that thesis has been submitted and the final viva/defense is pending.
Desirable expertise: Candidates with experience in experimental condensed matter physics, in particular, cryogenics and device fabrication using optical/e-beam lithography, and/or noise spectroscopy, will be highly preferred. The selected candidate is expected to work on single crystals of quasi- 1D and 2D materials and their heterostructures for optoelectrical measurements.
