Eligibility / Qualification
Essential Requirements:
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
(Candidates who submitted thesis and awaiting viva are eligible) - Strong expertise in in vitro and benchtop experimental techniques
- Experience in in vivo studies OR willingness to develop skills
- Creative problem-solving ability with strong research interest
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience in medical device design and biomedical materials testing
- First-author peer-reviewed publications
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Job Description
The selected candidate will work under Dr Eimear Dolan on innovative implant technologies designed to improve long-term performance by reducing the body’s foreign response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments.
- Develop and test therapeutic medical implants
- Collaborate with national and international research teams
- Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Publish research papers and present at scientific conferences
- Identify technical challenges and propose solutions
The research specifically explores actuatable implant platforms that enhance therapy delivery for conditions like ovarian cancer and diabetes.
