ICMR, Mumbai, India invites Scientist Position in ICMR from eligible and interested candidates
About- Applications are invited for various project-based positions under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) funded project titled “Development of Snake Venom Research and Testing Centre” (Project ID: IIRPIG-2025-01-02077). The project aims to strengthen research related to snake venom analysis, venom collection, and related biochemical studies.

Location- India (Fieldwork and laboratory work under the ICMR funded project). Extensive nationwide touring may be required, particularly for snake collection and venom sampling.
Eligibility/Qualification–
1. Project Research Scientist I (Medical)
Salary: ₹67,000 + 30% HRA
Qualification:
- BVSc or equivalent degree
Desirable:
- Experience in handling snakes.
2. Project Technical Support I (Multi-Task Staff)
Salary: ₹18,000 + 30% HRA
Qualification:
- 10th pass + Diploma (MLT / DMLT / ITI or equivalent) + 2 years experience in snake catching
OR - Three-year Graduate degree in relevant subject + 1 year experience in snake catching
Desirable:
- Snake Friend Certificate
- Experience in snake venom extraction
- Valid four-wheeler driving licence
3. Project Research Scientist I (Non-Medical)
Salary: ₹56,000 + 30% HRA
Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree in relevant allied subjects
OR - Four-year Graduate degree in Engineering / IT / Computer Science or allied fields
4. Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical)
Salary: ₹67,000 + 30% HRA
Qualification:
- Postgraduate degree with 3 years post-qualification experience
OR - PhD in relevant field
OR - Four-year Engineering / IT / CS degree with 3 years experience
5. Project Technical Support III
Salary: ₹28,000 + 30% HRA
Qualification:
- Three-year Graduate degree in relevant subject with 3 years experience
OR - Postgraduate degree in relevant field
OR - Four-year Engineering / IT / CS degree
Job/Position Description-
A total of 7 posts are available for Research Scientists and Technical Support staff. Selected candidates will work on snake venom collection, biochemical analysis, molecular biology research, and fieldwork related to snake handling and venom extraction.
The initial appointment will be for 10 months, which may be extended based on satisfactory performance. The total tenure of the project is four years.

Field & Laboratory Work
Selected candidates will participate in field and laboratory activities related to snake venom research and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Capturing and handling snakes safely in wild environments
- Health monitoring and maintenance of captured snakes
- Collection of biological samples such as blood and venom
- Venom extraction and preservation
- Conducting biochemical and molecular analyses
- Assisting in protein chemistry, spectroscopy, and tissue culture work
- Supporting laboratory research and data analysis
- Communicating with Forest Departments during fieldwork
- Travelling across India for snake collection and venom sampling
Technical support staff will assist scientists with laboratory tasks, fieldwork, and logistics such as driving and equipment handling.
