About- The Department of Biotechnology invites applications for the post of Scientist ‘C’, Group ‘A’ Gazetted Post (Non-Ministerial and Scientific) to be filled on direct recruitment basis. The details for Scientist Position in India are as under:

Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Following qualifications are prescribed for all candidates:
i. ESSENTIAL:
Master of Science in Life Sciences or Bachelor of Veterinary Science or Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Technology in the field of Biotechnology from a recognized University.
ii. DESIRABLE:
Doctor of Philosophy in Life Sciences or MD or Master of Veterinary Science or Master of Technology in the field of Biotechnology
from a recognized University
Experience: (after acquiring essential qualifications, except for
departmental candidates) FIVE years
Job/Position Description-
The selection process for the selection to the post of ‘Scientist-C’ in the Department of Biotechnology will be a two stage process consisting of a written test and interview test. Details of which are as below:
A. WRITTEN TEST: shall consist of two papers namely PAPER-I and PAPER-II.
Paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi only.
a. PAPER-I: (100 questions) maximum marks 200: Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for blind candidates accompanied by scribe and cerebral palsy candidates with locomotor disability where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment) and shall be compulsory for all candidates and shall consist of objective type multiple choice questions in the field of general knowledge including current affairs, elementary maths (class X level), comprehension, Reasoning, analytical ability and general sciences.
b. PAPER-II: (100 Questions) maximum marks 200: Duration: 120 minutes (160 minutes for blind candidates accompanied by scribe and cerebral palsy candidates with locomotor disability where dominant (writing) extremity is affected to the extent of slowing the performance of function (minimum of 40% impairment) and shall consist of objective type multiple choice questions.
The paper will consist of Three parts namely PART-A (Life Sciences); PART – B (Medical and Veterinary Sciences); PART – C (Engineering in the field of BioTechnology).
Candidates will be required to attempt only one part which must be relevant to their subject field. The questions will be of Graduate level of Universities in India.
B. INTERVIEW: maximum marks 100 (Qualifying criteria: 20%) (Only five times the number of vacancies in a particular category will be called for interview on the basis of order of merit formed on the basis of total number of marks obtained in written examination subject to clearing the qualifying criteria.
C. Grand Total: maximum marks: 500 (Selection will be done in order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written test and interview. However, the department will have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all (Written and Interview)
EXAMINATION CENTRES: Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Bhubaneshwar and Thiruvananthapuram
FEES: All candidates (except female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability) are required to pay a (non-refundable) fees of Rs.1500/-(One thousand five hundred only). They should mention the voucher details/transaction details while filling their online applications.
