About- National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) is an autonomous institute under Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, and Government of India. NIAB is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and basic research towards development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals.

Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualification:
- Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG) in Life Sciences (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, etc.)
Preferred:
- Ph.D. degree or relevant experience (as listed below)
💼 Experience (Preferred Areas)
Candidates with prior experience in the following areas will be preferred:
- Mammalian cell culture-based biopharmaceutical production
- Handling adherent & suspension mammalian cells
- Experience with industrial production cell lines:
- HEK293F
- CHO cells
- Clone development & stable cell line maintenance
- Upstream Process Development (USP)
- Media optimization
- Feed strategy design
- Growth kinetics analysis
- Design of Experiments (DoE)
- Downstream Processing (DSP)
- Protein recovery
- Affinity & Size Exclusion Chromatography
- Systems such as ÄKTA (Cytiva) / NGC (Bio-Rad)
- Bioreactor operations (2–50 L scale)
- Process scale-up (Lab to Pilot scale)
- ELISA, Western Blotting, Endotoxin testing
- GMP guidelines & process validation

Developing a robust and cost-effective bio-manufacturing platform using an engineered mammary epithelial cell-based bioreactor for the production of human lactoferrin to treat iron deficiency anaemia

- Project Technical Support – II (1 Position)
The engagement is initially for 6 months and may be extended based on performance and project requirements.

Selected candidates will work on a translational biotechnology project focused on therapeutic protein production using engineered mammary epithelial cell-based bioreactors.

- Protein purification and analysis
- Laboratory maintenance and documentation
- Compliance with GMP and quality standards
- Supporting research activities under PI supervision
