IIT Madras, India, invites applications for Senior Research Fellow Post at IIT from eligible and interested candidates

About- Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Fellow, under the project titled “Green Steelmaking by Hydrogen Assisted Reduction of Iron Oxide” in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras.

Research/Job Area- Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy / Materials related discipline

Location- IIT Madras, India

Eligibility/Qualification–

Ph.D. (Mechanical, Chemical, Metallurgy / Materials) related discipline with reasonable performance and experience in high temperature metallurgy/mineral processing

Desirable: Experience in designing furnace and working on high temperature experiments. Candidates with steel plant/mining/metal/chemical industry experience will be preferred Good mathematical/logical skill is required.

Job/Position Description-

Co-ordinator: Prof. Ajay Kumar Shukla, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras.

Duration: Initially for one year, later extendable based on the performance.

Post	Pay
Senior Research Fellow	Rs. 35000/- Per month

Job Description:

To design and manage high temperature laboratory furnaces/Equipment (Muffle, Tubular and Induction Furnaces).
Design and conduct of smooth experiments in Hydrogen based reduction roasting furnaces.
To assist the student/staff to run high temperature Pyrometallurgy laboratory.
To assist students/staff to analyse the experimental results and write reports and publications.
