PhD in Cardiovascular Development, University of East Anglia (UEA) and Earlham Institute, UK

Postdoctoral Position in UK United Kingdom

PhD in Cardiovascular Development: Join a cutting-edge PhD project at the University of East Anglia (UEA) focusing on the genomic control of cardiovascular development. This research will utilize advanced single-cell multi-omic approaches to explore enhancer landscapes in the chick embryo, contributing to our understanding of congenital heart and vascular defects.

Designation

PhD Candidate

Research Area

Understanding Rules of Life

Location

University of East Anglia (UEA) and Earlham Institute, Norwich, UK

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A degree in biology, genetics, or a related field.
  • Experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or developmental biology is a plus.
  • Strong interest in cardiovascular research and genomic studies.

Job Description

The PhD project involves applying single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and single-cell ATAC sequencing (scATAC-seq) to map enhancer landscapes during early cardiovascular development. Responsibilities include:

  • Integrating gene expression and chromatin accessibility data.
  • Predicting active enhancers and reconstructing gene regulatory networks.
  • Cloning candidate enhancers into fluorescent reporter constructs for live imaging.
  • Conducting CRISPR-based perturbations to test enhancer functions in vivo.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to achieve fundamental discoveries in the field.
