Core areas that the Global Research Fellows can choose to work on:

Analysing energy transformation pathways, to develop cost functions and apply on a system-level model
Development of control architecture for microgrids with multiple energy sources and sinks
Carbon conversion and utilisation approach in hard to abate sectors such as steelmaking and cement manufacturing
Development of alternative energy management pathways to enable long term storage of the renewable energy available in the grid, such as green hydrogen
Advanced energy conversion systems (electro and photochemical) for direct solar conversion to fuels

Humboldt Research Fellowship in Germany: Postdocs & Experienced Researchers

Location- IIT Madras, India

Eligibility/Qualification–

Ph.D. degree holders from a globally recognized university are eligible to apply within five years after completion of their Ph.D.
The applicant must have an established and demonstrated experience of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and/or patents as well as a credible track record of developing successful grant-funded proposals.
Applicant must have excellent written and communication skills in English as well as interpersonal skills to work in big and diverse teams.
Ideal candidates must be highly motivated and able to independently lead complex research and technology projects that need cross-disciplinary collaborations.
The maximum age at the time of application is 35 years

Job/Position Description-

Global Research Fellows shall have the unique opportunity to:

Engage on an internationally relevant energy focus area geared towards enabling a low carbon future
Gain accelerated technical leadership exposure that leads to an academic or entrepreneurial career path
Develop a knowledge bridge for academic and research engagement between India and partner country
Publish in high impact international journals and invited presentations in global conferences and workshops
Author white papers that support policymakers on future energy policy
Patent the technology and/or spin-off the technology into a potential start-up that will be well supported through the IIT Madras innovation ecosystem
Serve as a doctoral committee member and co-supervise MS/Ph.D. scholars at IIT Madras

Mechanism of engagement:

2 years contract
Globally competitive remuneration
A Start-up grant and a travel grant will be provided
