Location- King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Saudi Arabia

Eligibility/Qualification–

Doctoral degree in a relevant field.

Evidence of published research in the areas of focus for this position.

These positions present an exciting opportunity to exploit emerging sensors and platforms for advanced earth observation, and to develop new tools and techniques for the analysis and interpretation of vast quantities of data. Evidence of published research in these areas is a prerequisite for application.

Applicants will ideally have prior experience in product or process retrieval (hydrological, agricultural or vegetation), the use of advanced remote sensing analysis techniques (i.e. data integration and analytics), as well as a strong background in programming and modeling. We are looking for outstanding multi-disciplinary researchers with interest in any of the following broad topics:

  1. Application of big-data machine learning approaches to remote sensing (e.g. land use classification, process retrieval, object tracking and monitoring, anomaly detection);
  2. Application of high-resolution satellite data for earth and environmental science applications, particularly as relates to retrieving aspects relevant to enhancing food and water security;
  3. Advanced modeling and data-integration approaches for improving crop health, nutrient and water use, or yield estimation in precision agricultural systems;
  4. Plant phenotyping approaches using UAVs, with particular experience integrating hyperspectral, lidar or thermal platforms with ground and lab based assessments.
