Eligibility/Qualification–
Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) in Science or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized University/Institute or equivalent or Ph.D. thesis submitted in Science. Proven experience conducting field sampling activities and previous experience of using high-throughput sequencing such as Illumina sequencing chemistry would be welcome.
Age Limit- Must not be over 40 years as on 31st March, 2025 which can be relaxed for certain reserved categories as per rules of Government of India. Relaxation in age, educational qualifications or experience may be considered in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates.

Walk-in interview for the position of Project Scientist I in a project to be undertaken in the Centre for Climate and Environmental Studies at IISER Kolkata.
Project Title: (Micro)Biology of the Abyss: Equi-pressure sampling, and bio-diversity quantification
Funding Agency: Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt of India
Temporary position: Project Scientist-I

Salary- Rs 56,000 + 27% HRA
Background of the project: The project intends to understand the responses of deep-sea microbial communities with increasing depth and salinity, among other stressors using uncultured (‘omics’) and cultured approaches. The position will be initially for a period of six months and can be extended to another year subjected to satisfactory performance.
