Eligibility/Qualification–
PhD/ MTech/ MSc/ MS in Physics/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Microwave/ RF related field with 2 years of relevant experience in Microwave/ RF Plasma related simulation analysis and modelling.
Expertise and hands on experience in any one of the Multiphysics simulation software (ANSYS / CST Studio / COMSOL).
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency in electromagnetic and plasma modelling and simulation using ANSYS/CST Studio/COMSOL.
- Strong understanding of plasma physics and hands-on experience with Microwave/RF component design.
- Demonstrated expertise in computational modelling techniques related to low-temperature plasma physics, electromagnetics simulation and plasma diagnostics.
- Familiarity with safety standards and reliability assessment methods for MP-CVD chamber design.
- Practical experience with common microwave and low-temperature plasma diagnostic tools.
- Self-motivated team player with strong collaboration, communication and computer skills.
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited for the temporary post of Research Scientist for Microwave Plasma CVD Design and Developmentat India Centre for Lab Grown Diamond (InCent-LGD), IIT Madras. Co-ordinator: Prof. M. S. Ramachandra Rao, Department of Physics, IIT Madras Duration: Initially for one year, later extendable based on the performance.

- Conceive of innovative chamber designs, based on sound principles, for microwave plasma CVD systems.
- Conduct electromagnetic and computational analysis of various types of microwave plasma CVD reactor (Microwave Resonating Cavity) for diamond growth.
- Design, model, and optimize electric field distributions within various microwave resonant cavities, and benchmark their performance against commercially adopted cavity designs to identify the most effective geometry for high-quality, large-area diamond synthesis.
- Conduct experimental validation of electromagnetic and plasma simulation results using plasma diagnostics tools, ensuring strong correlation between theoretical predictions and measured behavior in fabricated resonant cavities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional team members through regular discussions, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions to refine cavity concepts and improve simulation accuracy and reactor performance.
