About- Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) is inviting applications for ONE Research Associate at level III (RA-III) position to work on the “Optical clock based accurate time stamping in quantum communication” project at its Precision & Quantum Measurement lab (PQM-lab: https://pqmlab.iucaa.in/). This project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India for three years under their flagship Quantum Enabled Science and Technology (QuEST) program.

Eligibility/Qualification–
- Ph. D. in Physics / Electronics / Instrumentation / Optical engineering/ nano Fabrication / other related areas. Candidates who have submitted/ defended their PhD thesis and are waiting for final degree can also apply.
- Or, ME/ M. Tech in Physics / Electronics / Instrumentation / Optical engineering/ other related areas with minimum three years’ experience and having at-least one original research paper in SCI journals.
- Desirable experience in C, C++, Python, Matlab/ Mathematica / VHDL/ LabVIEW/ Solidworks / COMSOL/ ANSYS/ digital & analog electronics/ optics/ fabrication will be useful.
Applications are encouraged from those who have prior expertise in some of the mentioned areas together with good knowledge of Physics, Optics and Electronics. Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited for post-doctoral fellowships in Astronomy and Astrophysics, for durations which are typically of two years, but are extendable up to a maximum of three years based on performance.
The Post-doctoral Fellows receive a fellowship of INR 54,000/- per month, a contingency grant of INR 40,000/- per annum, rent free accommodation on campus as well as medical and other benefits as per IUCAA/Government of India norms.
Facilities required for research are provided institutionally.
Facilities at IUCAA include a network of state-of-the-art computers, high performance computing clusters, high speed internet connections, mirror sites of important databases, a very well equipped instrumentation laboratory, and a library containing an excellent collection of books and periodicals.
IUCAA operates a 2 m optical telescope, IUCAA Girawali Observatory (IGO), at Girawali which is about 80 km from the IUCAA campus. IUCAA is a partner in the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT), which is a 10 m class telescope suited for imaging and spectroscopic observations of faint and distant objects. Support is also available for guest observing from other international facilities. Further information can be obtained from the IUCAA website.
