Eligibility/Qualification–
Essential Qualifications:
- First Class Master’s degree in Zoology / Life Sciences
OR - Second Class Master’s degree in Zoology / Life Sciences with a Ph.D. degree
Desirable Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and animal handling
- Prior experience in stem cell culture will be an added advantage
- Strong motivation for research and ability to work independently
(Note: Ph.D. is not mandatory for this position but preferable.)
Job/Position Description-
Applications are invited from highly motivated Indian nationals for the position of Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) in an ICMR-funded research project under the supervision of Dr. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Allahabad. The project focuses on cutting-edge translational research using in-vitro models and molecular techniques to develop potential therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 12 (SCA12).
This position provides an excellent opportunity for professional growth and collaboration with leading researchers from UoA, CSIR-IGIB Delhi, and AIIMS Delhi.

Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)
The candidate will participate in a translational research project aimed at discovering novel therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases (SCA12) using advanced cellular and molecular tools. The work will involve:
- Conducting in-vitro experiments using mammalian and stem cell culture models.
- Utilizing molecular biology and biochemical techniques to study disease mechanisms.
- Collaborating with partner institutions like CSIR-IGIB Delhi and AIIMS Delhi for joint research activities.
- Maintaining experimental records, preparing reports, and contributing to publications.
- Engaging in scientific discussions and training activities to foster independent research skills.
