About- Researchers at the Centre are divided into nine units: Chemistry and Physics of Materials, Educational Technology, Engineering Mechanics, Evolutionary and Integrative Biology, Geodynamics, Molecular Biology and Genetics, New Chemistry, Neuroscience, Theoretical Sciences.Though it is of course difficult to quantify scientific performance, by all numerical indications (numbers of publications, citations, grants, patents filed, etc.), science at the Centre is flourishing. In the last few years, the Centre’s faculty members have published their research in some of the most prestigious scientific journals, including Nature, Nature Medicine, Science, Evolution, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie, the Journal of Fluid Mechanics, and Physical Review Letters.The work of the Centre’s faculty is also being recognized by various awards. Eligibility/Qualification- Applicantsmust have a Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline, 3-4 years of postdoctoral exposure, and teaching experience.
Job/Position Description- The Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Cellular Immunology with a focus on human disease. We are looking for individuals who will develop vigorous, extramurally funded, research programs that will integrate with the highly collaborative scientific environment at the Institute (http://www.jncasr.ac.in/mbgumain.php).The Institute offers excellent, well-equipped, laboratory space and extensive shared facilities, including animal, molecular biology, confocal, microarray, massspec, flow cytometry and bio-imaging laboratories. The candidates are expected to establish a strong and independent research programs and share teaching responsibilities.
