Research/Job Area- Physical Sciences (Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science/Nanoscience) or Engineering/Technology (Metallurgy/Ceramics/Materials Engineering/Nanotechnology/Mechanical) or equivalent

Eligibility/Qualification-

For SCIENTIST “G”

Scientists or Technologists working in the Central/State Governments/ Universities/Recognized Research Institutions/Semi-government, Statutory or Autonomous Organizations in India or abroad:

1. holding analogous posts; or
2. with 2 years service in posts in the pay level 13 A (pre-revised Rs. 37,400-67,000/- with a Grade Pay of Rs. 8,900/-) or equivalent; and possessing the educational qualifications and experience as mentioned below.

Essential Qualification:  Master’s degree in Physical Sciences or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent from a recognized University.

Desirable: a) Doctorate degree or equivalent in a related subject from a recognized University.                  

• Experience in evolving, managing and directing major scientific or technology development programmes.                                                                                                          
• Published research work of high standard and/or good record of patents granted/filed.

Experience: 15 years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial/Academic Institutions and/or Science & Technology Organizations, out of which 5 years should be in administering, planning, developing and coordinating R&D and related areas.He/She shall have expertise in Metallurgical/Mechanical Engineering fields.    

For SCIENTIST “B”

M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Materials Science OR B.E./B.Tech. in Metallurgical/Materials/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.

Pay level:  14 

Total emoluments:  Rs. 2,53,247/- approximately

Age limit:  Not exceeding 58 years (for Deputation) and 50 years (for Direct Recruitment)

Mode of Recruitment:  On a deputation basis/Direct Recruitment

Mode of Selection: Presentation on R&D achievements/future plans followed by Personal Interview.

Job Requirement: The candidate is expected to spearhead a major programme in any one of the areas of Laser Processing of Materials/Surface Coatings/Metallurgical & Materials Processing, providing expert guidance in the areas as mentioned above,  especially metallurgical aspects.    

For SCIENTIST “B”

Name of the post:  SCIENTIST “B” (R&D)

No. of Posts:  Two (2)

Pay level:  10  

Total emoluments:  Rs.  99,969/- approximately

Age limit:  Not exceeding 28 years  

Mode of Recruitment:  Direct recruitment

Mode of Selection:  Personal Interview or as decided by the competent authority, ARCI.

Reservation:  Unreserved (UR) = 02

Job Requirement: The candidates are required to work in any of the ongoing R&D projects in the broad areas of Ceramics, nanomaterials, energy materials etc., OR in the field of Materials Characterization & Testing OR Electrical maintenance.

Mode of Selection for  

• Selection for the Scientist “G” posts: Shortlisted candidates shall make a crisp presentation for 30-45 minutes. The first half of the presentation shall highlight the achievements of the research work carried out by the candidate in the last few years, while the second part should describe the research proposal and how his/her expertise is suited for implementing the proposal. A separate questionnaire form for research proposal submission will be mailed to shortlisted candidates.

Selection for the posts of Scientist “B”: Through Personal Interview or as decided by the competent authority, ARCI
