The primary research areas revolve around Wildlife Ecology, Species Recovery and Conservation, and Population Monitoring. Work will involve intensive field biology, camera trapping, satellite telemetry tracking, spatial modeling, and data analysis related to large carnivores and endangered avian species.
Location- Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun
- General: Most positions involve extensive fieldwork across various landscapes in India (Sloth bear range states and Gangetic river systems).
- Specific: The Senior Project Associate (Government Liaison & Coordination) will be primarily based at the MoEFCC in Delhi.
- Headquarters: Some administrative and data synthesis work for Project Assistants will be based at the WII Headquarters in Dehradun.
Eligibility/Qualification–
- Project Associate-I: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Wildlife Science, Zoology, Botany, Life Sciences, or a related field from a recognized university. The maximum age limit is 35 years.
- Senior Project Associate: Requires a Ph.D. in a relevant subject OR a Master’s degree coupled with at least 4 years of documented research experience. The maximum age limit for this position is 40 years.
- Project Assistant: Candidates must hold a B.Sc. degree in Biological Sciences. The maximum age limit is set at 50 years.

The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is inviting applications from eligible Indian nationals for multiple project-based contractual positions. These projects focus on assessing tiger prey bases in central India, the ecology and recovery of the endangered Great Indian Bustard, and long-term monitoring of tiger populations. - Project Associate-I: Responsibilities include conducting extensive field surveys, setting up and managing camera traps, and carrying out ecological data analysis related to tiger prey bases.
- Senior Project Associate: The selected candidate will coordinate large-scale field operations, implement satellite telemetry for tracking, and perform advanced data modeling for the Great Indian Bustard recovery program.
- Project Assistant: Duties involve providing crucial assistance during field operations, specifically aiding in camera trapping setups and conducting animal sign surveys in tiger habitats.
