Eligibility/Qualification–
- Candidates will have been awarded a research doctoral degree (equivalent to an Australian PhD degree) within the last five years.
- Research doctoral degree candidates whose thesis is under examination at the closing date, and research doctoral degree candidates who will submit their PhD thesis by 1 July 2021 may also apply.
- The scheme is open for domestic applicants, including those with full visas and unrestricted work rights to cover the four-year duration of the appointment.
- Candidates must complete the Career Disruption Eligibility Request if they have been awarded their PhD within four years before the Census Date (1 July 2016) and have experienced a significant disruption to their early research career.
- The completed form must be uploaded to the online EOI application form.
- Candidates must nominate and consult closely with one UTS supervisor in developing an EOI.
- The fellowships are highly competitive. To be short-listed, candidates must have an exceptional track record relative to opportunity as well as the commitment to enhance the research capacity and culture of UTS.
Job/Position Description-
UTS Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (CPDRF) are awarded to outstanding early career researchers who wish to develop their research, teaching and learning, management and communication skills to become the next generation of leading academics at UTS. The scheme includes the Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Indigenous Research Fellowship (CPDIRF), aimed at attracting and retaining outstanding Indigenous early career researchers.
Both the CPDRF and CPDIRF offer:
- A four-year combination research and teaching appointment
- Academic Salary Level B, Step 2 ($108,203 base salary as of 1 May 2021) plus 17 per cent employer-provided superannuation contribution
- Research project funding of up to A$50,000
- Access to the International Research Development Scheme
- Access to Early Career Researcher Connect Program
- Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching

All fellows will be expected to engage in high quality research projects, produce high quality outputs, and contribute to existing and emerging teaching and learning areas relevant to UTS.

How to Apply-
- Prior to completing your EOI, you are strongly advised to contact the relevant UTS faculty (or equivalent) and enquire about current research priorities to ensure there is support for your application
- The scheme involves a three-stage application process:
- Expression of Interest (EOI)
- Invited full application
- Interview
- Only one application per individual will be accepted. You must nominate only one supervisor
If your EOI is shortlisted, you will be invited to submit a full application. The relevant documents and instructions for the second stage will be forwarded to you.
